Burger King rewards gamers who score with players named Burger and King
Happiness Brussels launched the campaign with top EA Sports FC streamers in Belgium
Editor's Pick
The latest version of EA Sports FC includes upgrades where the commentators will announce the names of all players, not just the stars. Burger King takes advantage of this with a campaign in Belgium that rewards players who score through the combination of “Burger to King.”
The campaign comes from Happiness Brussels, an FCB alliance. Players who score goals from Burger to King and share the footage on social media with the hashtag #BurgerToKing will receive a coupon for a free Whopper.
The new EA Sports FC also lets you build a dream team of players, allowing Burgers and Kings to play together. You can also create your own players with those names.
According to our sleuthing, there is only one Burger in the official ranks of EA Sports FC players—Dutch star Wouter Burger of Stoke City. BK will also accept the spelling Berger, which includes Tom Berger of Dynamo Dresden, Sofus Berger of Viborg FF and Ann-Katrin Berger of NJ/NY Gotham (though she is a goalie and may have more trouble getting an assist). There are at least eight Kings available.

“Burger King is a relatively young brand in Belgium. We’ve only been around here since 2017,” said Dirk Lammens, head of marketing at Burger Brands Belgium. “With this activation, we’re able to engage with the local gaming community in an authentic, bold and playful way, and help claim our place in culture.”
“Brands have been trying to enter the world of gaming for years, but it turns out that Burger King has been there all along ... with players called Burger and King,” said Geoffrey Hantson, chief creative officer at Happiness. “We’re happy to bring this to life with this activation.”
