Are we seeing a theme emerge in European holiday ads this year -- that perhaps the festive season isn't all it's cracked up to be? Earlier this week there was Orange's French spot depicting holiday fails, and now here's one from Scandinavia that puts a distinctly depressing spin on the season to be jolly.

The ad, for Swedish hardware chain Clas Ohlson, has holiday emblems bemoaning the stressful nature of the season as various disasters befall them. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" becomes "Have Yourself a Merry Stress-Free Christmas" as we see a cuddly toy fought over in a store, a lamb from the nativity crib accidentally vacuumed, the gingerbread men burned in the oven and the snowman stabbed with a carrot by over-excited kids. There's also a Christmas tree that catches fire, and at one point, a Santa car decoration vomits into his sack at its owner's furious, stressed-out driving. The film ends with the message "Reduce the Christmas stress. Solve all your Christmas needs in one place."

Swedish agency King created the ad and Adam Berg directed it via production company Indio. It's airing in Clas Ohlson's markets of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany and the U.K.
