Domino's Christmas campaign could bring yodeling carolers to your door

Campaign from VCCP adds a festive element to earlier yodeling ads

Earlier this year, Domino's U.K. arm brought an Alpine flavor to the world of pizza takeout in a TV ad featuring people who yodeled their pie orders, a promotion for the chain's group ordering. Now, it's back with a festive version.

The pizza chain's first-ever U.K. Christmas ad takes place at a festive concert (which, like TK Maxx's ad, is packed full of people and not a single mask-wearer in sight). The choir looks ready to serenade us with carols, but instead, the nervous head choirboy launches into a yodel. The translation in subtitles reads "Domino's after the show?" The other members (again, in translated yodel) chime in that it's a great idea and that there's even a festive pizza. One of the stars of the original yodeling ad, sitting in the audience, joins in too. The film was directed by Somesuch’s Sam Hibbard, who helmed the previous spot.

There's a fun social extension to the campaign; customers who place their order through the group ordering function on the brand’s app will be entered into a chance of experiencing the yodeling choir in person. The choir will turn up on their doorsteps "singing beautiful Domino’s- themed carols," we're told, while delivering the festive pizza. Domino's will also film and capture the experiences for social content which will roll out on TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram on Dec. 6.
