As part of its new unlimited data plan offering, Verizon will air a spot on Monday night to show competitors that it's back in the game and dropping the mic, literally.
The spot, created by McCann New York, stars actor Thomas Middleditch, known for playing lead character and bumbling-but-confident Pied Piper CEO Richard Hendricks on HBO's "Silicon Valley." In it, he assumes a familiar stance presenting a great big "something."
Here, however, he unveils a large "Unlimited" statue from underneath a red sheet while talking about the merits of Verizon's plan, and each time he appears as if he's finished speaking, he drops his mic.
But that loud noise never happens, so he ends up pulling out another mic, seemingly out of nowhere, to one-up his previous announcement. After three times, he says, "And that is all the microphones that I have," followed by a V.O. proclaiming: "Not just unlimited, Verizon unlimited."
The spot will air on all major networks at 8 p.m. EST, such as CBS, Fox, ABC and NBC. Read more about it on Adage.com.
