Last year, Gatorade tapped agency Work & Co. to assist on ramping up its digital innovation. We’re now seeing some of the fruits of that partnership in a new app the brand debuted this week, “Highlights.”
Available for free for iOS and Android, it lets athletes record and share their slam dunks, serves and dribbles and adorn them with broadcast-quality, animated overlays, making them look straight out of a superhero cartoon. There are also customization features that allow users to add their name, team, number and position to the videos.
The idea for the app stems from the (not so surprising) insight that younger athletes want to capture, celebrate and share their sports feats with their peers.
