An ANZ Bank Branch Transforms into 'GayNZ' for Sydney's Mardi Gras

Baroque Makeover Follows 2014's 'GayTMs'

Two years ago, Australia's ANZ Bank celebrated its partnership with Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras by creating GayTMs, adorning receipts with rainbow colors and messages like "Cash out and proud."

Now, the bank has outdone itself for this year's Mardi Gras by transforming an entire branch into a baroque-inspired "GayNZ" bank. The usually utilitarian-looking Oxford Street branch was completely redone (as can be seen in a time lapse video, posted on ANZ's Facebook page) with hand-painted murals, frescoes, stained glass, marble floors and a pair of giant penguins in the foyer (a reference to Denmark's famous gay penguins.)

Whybin/TBWA Melbourne worked on the project along with The Glue Society artists James Dive and Pete Baker.
