Geico's Halloween campaign stars a witch with her own cooking show
New spot from the Martin Agency also features a freaky transfiguration

It's not even October yet, but here come the Halloween ads. This year, Geico is releasing a series of seasonal spots, starting with a fun TV ad that revolves around a couple of housemates living with a witch.
The two college student-types compromise on a third roommate (one wants a cat-lover and one wants someone to help with the cooking) by getting Griswalda, a seriously spooky witch. At least they agree on Geico for their renters' insurance—although we're not sure even Geico could sort out the transfiguration that takes place later in the spot. Let's just say it reminds us of a classic Harry Potter moment with Hermione Granger, except VFX have come quite a ways since the Potter films were made. The director was Hungry Man's Wayne McClammy.
Griswalda also appears in a quirky online film, designed for social, hosting her own karaoke cooking show. Geico will follow up wih more social spots with Halloween themes, including one featuring Casper the friendly ghost and another putting the Geico gecko in a creepy situation.
