Netflix Can Electrify Your Love Life, Cheer Up Your Sulky Teen and More
European Campaign Explores How Shows Can Change Your Life
Editor's Pick
A European campaign for Netflix, its first work from Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam, starts with the premise that Netflix and its personalized watching recommendations can change your life. The main spot illustrates this with examples of various shows: whether it's making your sulky teen laugh thanks to "Arrested Development," finding you a new lesbian lover at a party thanks to "Orange is the New Black" or breaking the ice at an awkward dinner thanks to "House of Cards." It's all nicely done, with a humorous, ironic tone that reminds us somewhat of the campaign for Booking.com, also by the same agency. Aaron Stoller of Biscuit was the director.
The campaign will run in the U.K,, Ireland, The Netherlands and Nordics, and will be accompanied by several shorter online films exploring a similar theme (the first of which, Sara, launched this week). AKQA Amsterdam also worked on digital development for the campaign, which will include an interactive YouTube video launching next week.
