Starting Friday, Microsoft and 343 Industries will debut a new web series, the live-action Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, to promote the latest installment of the franchise. Comprised of five 15-minute episodes that will air on YouTube, Machinima and Xbox live, the series will be a prequel of sorts for Halo games.
This weekend, the game developer released a new video that introduces the members of the Hastati Squad cadets, with some insight into their personalities. Among the crew are Chyler Silva, played by Anna Popplewell ("The Chronicles of Narnia"), April Orenski (Enish Brewster, "Footloose,") and Michael "Sully" Sullivan (played by Masam Holden "Grey's Anatomy," "Elizabethtown"). The films were directed by Stewart Hendler ""H+", "Sorority Row") and were written by
Todd Helbing and Aaron Helbing, whose credits include "Smallville" and "Spartacus."

The campaign continues a line of ambitious promotions for the Halo franchise, which included the multi-pronged push for Halo 3. It featured the celebrated"Believe" campaign out of T.A.G. and AKQA, the cornerstone of which was a highly-detailed diorama of the game's battlefield, showcased in a somber film directed by MJZ's Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman"). Also part of the game's launch was a series of live-action shorts directed by Neill Blomkamp ("District 9").
