Hasbro's Monopoly gets a little too real in this funny, gritty film
U.K. social media campaign promotes the classic board game ahead of the holiday season
Editor's Pick
Anyone who's every played Monopoly will recognize some of the family arguments that arise in an amusing new film for Hasbro, which has fun with the idea of what would happen if the classic board game took place in real life.
Created by Treehouse, the in-house creative studio of U.K. social media agency Jungle Creations, the video, running on social media, centers on a police interrogation of a family over a bank robbery.
At first we see the son locked in a cell, trying but failing to roll a double in order to get out of jail. Meanwhile, the police question the father on how he managed to buy a hotel on Park Lane after having filed for bankruptcy at two different family occasions in a row, while the mother defends the fact that she tried to make her husband bankrupt for just sixteen pounds in unpaid rent. The scenarios are interwoven with classic Monopoly frustrations--and it all ends with a Get Out of Jail Free card.
The film is running on Facebook in the run-up to the holiday season.
