What Happens If You Combine Hip Hop With Irish Jig Music?

Juice Brand J20 Does a Mashup in This Fun U.K. Spot

Editor's Pick

U.K. juice brand J20 cleverly blends two very different music styles -- hip hop and traditional Irish jig -- in this spot from BBH London. Promoting the juice product's blends of different flavors, the TV spot sets hip hop dancers Junior's Crew dancing to music from a group of Irish musicians called Old Irish Beats. The combination of hip hop moves with jig-like music not only works surprisingly well, but also fits perfectly with the tagline, "There's joy in the blend." Serendipitously, the names of the two acts also spell out the 'J' and 'O' in the brand name.

In a smart media buy, the spot broke during the popular U.K. singing contest "The X Factor." The ad was shot by Oliver Hadlee Pearch, a music video director who also helmed Paul Smith's recent ad for its cyclewear collection, and produced through Colonel Blimp.
