Honeymoons are arguably the best part of getting married, but the cost of them can be a downer. Hotels.com has a new contest to help a few newlyweds out with the expense. Couples who incorporate “Hotels.com” in their wedding vows in some way, film it and share it online with the hashtag #HotelsSponConVows, can be entered to win $15,000 towards their honeymoon. Hotels.com began promoting the contest on social on August 15. While wedding guests might be surprised, the whole "Till death do us part" line can feel a little stale anyway, right?
The giveaway is happening on the back of a brand integration with Hulu for its latest episode of “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” which aired on August 14. The recently premiered show, a TV adaption of the beloved movie of the same name, is the brainchild of actress Mindy Kaling. In the latest episode, millennial characters Craig and Zara have their wedding sponsored by Hotels.com where Zara’s veil is branded with the Hotels.com logo, she is directed to mention Hotels.com’s reward program during her vows and even Hotels.com mascot Captain Obvious appears as the wedding DJ. Hotels.com and Hulu worked with Mediacom for the integration.
“We’re always looking for new, creative ways to connect Hotels.com to what’s happening in pop culture and media in the lives of Millennial travelers,” says Mike Wolfe, head of global creative, sponsorships and partnerships for Hotels.com. “Our integration with ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ brings our brand to life on screen in a unique, irreverent way that really shows off the Hotels.com personality.”
It’s too bad that “Four Weddings and a Funeral” has received sour reviews so far, with The New York Times saying the show shares the same London setting of the movie version, but “none of its clever sparks.”
