The New York office of London-based design company Pearlfisher has created the identity and packaging for a new Pernod Ricard super premium gin brand, Indigo by Larios. With a limited launch in Colorado and Illinois, it's the first upscale Spanish gin to hit the U.S. marketplace. The inky brand mark, according to Pearlfisher, is based on the story, recounted on the label, of the ginmaking prowess of one Martin Larios. He was appointed distiller to the Court of Spain in 1865, where he reserved the best gin for private use, marking those choice barrels with a splash of indigo ink. "The bottle has a masculine and refined feel with the unique introduction of a clear glasslike cap, reinforcing the premium positioning," explains Pearlfisher. See www.pearlfisher.com for more.
