This spot for HP, promoting its new Sprout computing platform, is a poignant story of creativity lost and found. Set to a cover of Supertramp's "Logical Song" sung by a children's choir, the film is one that will strike a familiar chord with anyone vaguely artistic who's ended up in a non-creative job.
Created by 180 L.A and directed by Lance Acord of Park Pictures, it depicts a woman's journey from artistic child and teen to an adult who gradually finds her creative spark stifled by college lectures, a corporate office job and what looks like some seriously boring meetings.
It's only when she becomes a mother that she gets back in touch with her creative side with the help, of course, of HP technology. Whereas as a child she loved looking at shells, now she and her daughter can look at them in 3D using Sprout.
Sprout, which HP unveiled in 2014, includes facilities such as 3D scanning and an HD touchscreen and is aimed particularly at creators. The ad was done in collaboration with Intel.
