A man takes to the road on his piano in this bizarre fuel ad
U.K. spot for Jet makes a visit to a gas station look epic
Editor's Pick
A new ad for U.K. fuel brand Jet puts a surreal slant on the idea of a mundane gas station visit.
The spot sees a man embark on a roadtrip, not in a car but on a mobile grand piano, on which he's playing Joe Jackson’s 80’s hit "Steppin’ Out." Midway through his epic performance, which takes place through the rather grey British drizzle, he stops to refuel at a Jet station before resuming his journey. The tagline is: "Don’t let filling up slow you down." And while it's not quite Epic Split, it's a memorable, if very bizarre, creative approach.
The spot was created out of agency Isobel and directed by Nate Camponi of Chief Productions. It's the first TV advertising for Jet in more than 20 years, and according to the company is part of a brand refresh designed to "increase visibility and consideration amongst new and existing customers.
“Since 1954 Jet have been on the side of the driver, aiming to get you in and out quickly," said Ben Stump, creative director at Isobel, in a statement. "They understand that whatever you drive, or wherever you’re going, you just want to ‘Keep On Moving.' Through one man’s love of the open road—and a good old sing-song, this commercial is a beautiful celebration of that.”
