Gary Cole, the charismatic everyman best known for playing the prototypical awful boss in “Office Space” and inept data fetishist Kent Davison on “Veep,” (not to mention voicing Harvey Birdman), finally gets a role he hasn’t played before: time-traveling spokesman from the future.
In new spots for Kabbage, a provider of capital to small businesses, Cole calms the fears of a panicky team that needs funding, pronto. Ten minutes from now, it'll all be taken care of. Cue another visitor from the future: Cole 10 days hence, sporting a tux and champagne ready to pop, after the team has won a big account.
But the Coles don’t stop there. In comes a spokesman from 10 years in the future, looking very much like times haven’t changed. (Does that mean we somehow thread that needle between nuclear war, catastrophic climate change and another recession? Thanks, Gary.)
This is the first national TV campaign for Kabbage, created by Eleven. The main spot is running on broadcast and over-the-top networks. Short spots featuring Cole delivering one-liners in a smoke-filled warehouse are also running online.
