Meltdowns, meet melted cheese. Families wandering through overcrowded Times Square this holiday season have a new way to avoid a child’s hunger-induced meltdown.

Kraft will deliver free grilled cheese sandwiches, up to four per order, on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.

It’s a new way for Kraft to promote its Kraft American Singles. For parents, it’s a way to avoid trying to soothe a child’s hangry-ness by ordering food from an overpriced-maybe-not-great-but-you’ll-take-it-because-it’s-nearby restaurant.

To get the sandwiches, parents need to text CHZ to 797979 with their name, location, and the number of grilled cheese sandwiches needed. The offer is only available 12-6 p.m. on Dec. 20 within Times Square (Broadway, 7th Avenue, 42nd and 47th Streets). Leo Burnett is the creative agency on the project.

This is the latest example of food purveyors helping harried folks endure holiday stress. Yesterday, Popeyes debuted "Emotional Support Chicken" for anxiety-ridden travelers.
