Back in 2011, Beats products, including the Beats Pill speaker, were all the rage in the hip-hop community due to its founder Dr. Dre. For many years the portable speaker appeared in dozens of hip-hop music videos for artists including Nicki Minaj, Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne.

Now Beats is tapping into that cultural affinity for a new campaign for Beats Pill titled “The Predicament” featuring LeBron James and Lil Wayne. In a 90-second spot created by agency Mirimar, LeBron and his wife Savannah James host a hotel party while Lil Wayne’s classic hit “A Milli” blasts in the background (on a Pill, of course).

A floor beneath them, the music haunts the real Lil Wayne as it prevents him from sleeping. After hours of hearing the same song on repeat, Lil Wayne is left with no choice but to confront the source. However, upon arriving at the party, he joins the festivities and encourages LeBron to play the music even louder—a reference to numerous interviews in which Lil Wayne has admitted he prefers his music very loud.

The campaign comes as Beats reintroduces the Beats Pill to its product line, said Chris Thorne, CMO at Beats. “There’s no better way to relaunch an iconic product than to team up with two icons that have been part of our family since Pill’s inception,” he said.

In addition to the campaign video, both Lil Wayne and Lebron James posted the spot on social media.

The new Beats Pill is lighter than its predecessor, water and dust resistant, has USB-C charging and is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
