Pure Leaf taps Lindsay Lohan to try to make tea breaks happen

If you’re reading this, stop. Get up, close your laptop, stretch, go grab some water, maybe go for a walk for five minutes and then come back. Are you back? Great. See how nice it is to take a break? That’s the premise of a new spot from Pure Leaf tea featuring actress Lindsay Lohan. In a humorous 90-second spot, made by Edelman, employees at Lohan’s production office are doing everything but taking breaks—eating sad desk lunches, going to the bathroom camera off, and spending time on their screens for way too many hours a day. (Sound familiar?) But Lohan proposes a tea break, an intentional rest taken while drinking Pure Leaf tea, and she’s determined to make it happen. The premise isn’t a bad idea, as people often struggle to fit rest into their routines. After all, it is summertime—why not get out and drink some tea? It cannot be good to sit inside for this long. The campaign comes as Lohan regains attention on the big screen. The actress just announced on social media that she is filming “Freaky Friday 2” with co-star Jamie Lee Curtis. In addition to the campaign film, Pure Leaf launched a nationwide promotion from June 27 to July 25 in which people can receive a complimentary tea bottle for their next break. Furthermore, customers can visit a dedicated website to find pre-written “Away on tea break” messages, data from the brand’s “State of the Break” research report and tips from Mind Share Partners non-profit organization dedicated to improving workplace mental health. Pure Leaf also launched the Tea Break Grant program in partnership with Mind Share Partners to provide funding for small businesses and non-profits to implement break initiatives aimed at promoting employee revitalization.
