Comedian and rapper Lil Dicky and SNL's Chris Redd recall "The Greatest Play Call Ever" in the latest star-studded spectacle for EA Sports "Madden NFL, " the game's first work out of Johannes Leonardo, which won the account earlier this year.
In the film, which promotes the franchise's 19th edition, the comedic stars dish at a diner about the legend of Will, an everyday gamer whose one decisive move cemented his spot in the annals of gaming history. Redd, who was there to observe the feat, gives a play-by-play of the moment, as fans like Nicki Minaj (whose gamer tag is not to be missed) listen in. Not only did Will's move lead to one epic touchdown--it also triggered a chain of unbelievable events--a tune from Quavo, a coma wake-up, a new hot sauce, an episode of ESPN's "30 for 30" and much more--or did it?
The endline goes, "Make your play," a rallying cry for gamers to make those strategic decisions that lead to greatness.
The film was directed by comedic vet Neil Brennan ("Chappelle's Show") and also features cameos from sports pros Joel Embiid, DeAndre Hopkins as well as ESPN's Katie Nolan and Hot Ones' Sean Evans. "Madden 19" drops on Friday, August 10, and the campaign is running through the beginning of NFL season.
EA Sports has long tapped big names to push its Madden releases, with previous films starring the likes of Kevin Hart and Dave Franco, and Von Miller and Rob Gronkowski, created out of previous agency Heat.
