Eyes say it all in this McDonald's McDelivery ad

Eric Carmen's 'Hungry Eyes' provides the soundtrack in Leo Burnett's latest ad

McDonald's is pushing its McDelivery service in the U.K. a new TV spot from Leo Burnett London, in which the expressive nature of people's eyes says everything.

Set to Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eyes," best known from "Dirty Dancing," the spot shows people waiting for, receiving and eating their McDonald's meals. There's only a single word of dialogue set amid close-up shots of the people's eyes, which convey everything from anticipation to jealousy.  The spot was directed by Chris Balmond of Outsider (who recently helmed another wordless spot, for Guinness, in which everything looks like a pint of the black stuff).

“We know that a McDelivery isn’t just about answering the urge for your iconic McDonald’s favorite," said Steve Howells, director of marketing and media, McDonald’s, in a statement. "It’s also about the rituals and routine every household has when the McDelivery arrives."

A second spot in the campaign, due to come out on June 16, will "uncover the personal, intimate rituals unique to a McDelivery that people would only partake in when they’re in their own home" and will be set to Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now."

Leo Burnett's previous work for McDonald's McDelivery, a series of outdoor ads featuring single golden arches lighting up windows, was rewarded with a D&AD Yellow Pencil last month.
