To promote what it dubs an "epic miniseries event" -- "The '90s: The Decade That Connected Us," National Geographic Channels International tapped U.K. agency The Corner London to create this lively promo that recalls the most memorable moments of the period. Borja Pena of Psyop directed the film, which reimagine, in retro animated style outrageous events including the OJ Simpson car chase, the dalliances of President Bill Clinton, the Macarena craze, as well as more somber happenings such as the death of Princess Diana.
The film will run in 170 countries on Nat Geo. It also includes a print ad featuring the work of James Murray, who used Microsoft Paint to illustrate a '90s rave. Like the broadcast spot, it features colorful characters from the period, such as Clinton, Nelson Mandela, the Spice Girls and Vanilla Ice.
