NFL shows off epic flag football highlights ahead of Flag Championships

The NFL is highlighting the camaraderie, sportsmanship and diversity of flag football just ahead of this weekend’s championship flag football tournament. The “Let’s Play” spot from women-owned agency Zambezi features young stars Brooklin Hill (Apex Predators), Ava Wallace (Texas Fury) and Milan Heisdorf (Conquer SoCal) showing off their moves; NFL stars including CeeDee Lamb, who is seen hyping up a team of flag football players, and Justin Herbert, who is mesmerized watching flag football highlights, also make cameos. It is the second iteration of the “Let’s Play” campaign, which began last summer, and comes a year after the the NFL highlighted the growing sport in a halftime Super Bowl ad featuring Mexico women’s national flag football quarterback Diana Flores. “For the latest evolution of ‘Let’s Play,’ we wanted to spotlight the epic nature of flag, the impressiveness of individual moves and why millions of people around the world love this game,” said Marissa Solis, NFL senior VP of global brand and consumer marketing. “With the support of many of the league’s top players like CeeDee and Justin, we hope to encourage interest and future participation from anywhere and everywhere, and the inaugural NFL Flag Championships this weekend will be a huge part in achieving this goal, as the best youth flag players compete from around the world.” The league is holding its first NFL Flag Championships, featuring young flag football stars from across the country, from July 18 to July 21 at the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Three flag players in the ad—Hill, Wallace and Heisdorf—will compete in the tournament, which is being sponsored by Toyota. The NFL sees flag football as a way to grow interest among younger fans. The sport has exploded in popularity in recent years and will be part of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Over 20 million people in more than 100 countries play flag football today, according to the NFL, which notes that women in particular have helped fuel the growth of the game.
