We’re most likely to think of electric cars as planet and wallet-savers, not as speed demons tearing up the race circuit. But over the last few years, they’ve entered the world of motorsports with the rise of Formula E, an all-electric racing series that this month, hits the streets of Brooklyn, New York.

This month, in part of Formula E's seven-month-long circuit around the world, 11 global racing teams will speed through a course in Red Hook, Brooklyn. To ring in the event, Nissan, which is participating in the tournament, debuted this stunning out of home campaign from TBWA/Chiat/Day New York. The series of abstract images are visual poetry, depicting how neighborhoods of Brooklyn would appear if seen from the cockpit of a Formula E car.

While the images might seem like photographs captured at 150 mph, they’re actually illustrations the agency's design team created in-house.

As part of the campaign, this weekend during the final two ABB Formula E races in New York, Nissan will be hosting an immersive experience on the race’s sidelines in which consumers will be able to test out a VR driving simulator, check out the Nissan Formula E car and more.
