Swedish EV marque Polestar is hoping to attract some attention from buyers in Scandinavia with its latest showroom -- a 12-meter-high cube made out of ice and snow.
The igloo-like structure, called "Polestar Sbow Space," was constructed in the Arctic Circle city of Rovaniemi, Finland in early Januar using 3000 cubic meters of snow from the nearby Ounasvaara ski resort. To close the loop, Polestar will return the snow to the slopes when the pop-up space is closed at the end of February.
Inside the two meter thick snow walls, the electric fastback Polestar 2 will be on display, together with details such as rims, suspensions and brakes crafted as ice sculptures by local artists. Polestar Finland came up with the idea and it was created together with Polestar Global, plus external partners Frozen Innovations, Bou and Arctic Design Week. It's part of a wider effort with Arctic Design Week to promote and showcase sustainable and responsible design and bring attention to climate change.
"Customers can do pretty much the same things they can do in all of our other Polestar Spaces, but the conditions are slightly more frosty: they can experience the Polestar brand, our car and its features, and arrange a test drive with Polestar 2," Polestar Finland's head of marketing and PR Martin Österberg told Ad Age. "They can also participate in different events arranged together with Arctic Design Week that focus on design and sustainability topics."
