Popcorn, Indiana : The Popinator
What started as a hoax might turn into reality.
Editor's Pick
"The one thing that never changes is how people eat popcorn," says Barry, the VP of Operations at popcorn and pop-products company, Popcorn, Indiana. "But how would it be if we could change the way people eat popcorn?" Thinkmodo has gone out and made that possible for the company, with "The Popinator," a fully automated popcorn launching machine triggered by the word "pop." Kind of.
Although this video, which launched on the Internet last week, turned out to be a partial hoax -- the kernels fly not on voice command but on remote control -- and a guerilla marketing tactic for Popcorn from the agency, Michael Krivicka, creative director, says he is in the process of working with engineers and the company to "perfect the prototype." Which means you might get a lazier way of eating popcorn pretty dark soon.
