Qatar Airways uses AI to place customers in a romantic short film
McCann Worldgroup takes a customer-centric approach to the next level with innovative spot
Editor's Pick
The plot of Qatar Airways’ newest ad follows the age-old romantic storyline of a Hallmark movie.
Supported by McCann Worldgroup, “Star in Your Own Qatar Airways Adventure” follows a man who meets a woman (a model, at that) by chance as the two bump into each other on the path in and out of a cab. As though entranced by love at first sight, the two linger, until the woman jumps in the cab and away, leaving behind only an earring.
The rest of the spot follows the man as he searches for her and continuously seems to miss her in cities all over the world (to which they were carried on Qatar Airways, of course). That is until they find each other again—at the airport.
The emotive spot highlights Qatar Airways destinations and features spectacular shots of cities around the globe. But the true innovation comes from its use of AI to place Qatar customers into the film.

As part of the campaign, viewers can visit the Qatar Airways website and select from multiple scenes within the film to star in the leading roles. Using AI, Qatar Airways will place participants “in their own adventure” as the characters take on their appearance, adapting to their facial features and skin tone.
"Our latest campaign not only showcases the innovative spirit driving our brand but also encapsulates our customer-centric approach, helping to turn every journey into an adventure,” Thierry Antinori, chief commercial officer at Qatar Airways, said in a statement. “After all, there’s no limit to how far a dream can take you."
The campaign will run online.
