Rubius therapeutics intranet case study

Creating Connectedness to cultivate culture via "The Artery"

Description

Rubius Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering a new era of cellular medicines. Their proprietary RED PLATFORM™ was designed to genetically engineer and culture Red Cell Therapeutics™ that are selective, potent and ready to-use cellular therapies for the potential treatment of several diseases across multiple therapeutic areas.

As part of the its rapid growth, Rubius had reached a stage where streamlined communication, along with sharing of information between employees and across departments and locations had become more challenging and fragmented. In order to maintain and cultivate the great culture already at Rubius and provide a modern, digital means for internal communication, we worked together to create the company’s first intranet. The new intranet, named “The Artery” as a result of a company-wide naming contest, serves as a direct source of company and industry news, connects employees via community chat rooms, photo galleries that visitors can comment and like, provides easy to use company calendars, serves up daily announcements, searchable directories and org charts for finding coworkers, integrates with Microsoft Teams and additional 3rd party company tools, and much more. Built on SharePoint and Office 365, the intranet seamlessly fits into Rubius' current Microsoft technology stack and helps both simplify and enable communication within the company.

The intranet has not gone without accolades either. The Artery is a recent winner of the prestigious 2020 Ragan Communications Award for Usability Design, as well as having received an honorable mention for best in class intranet by the MARCOM Awards for 2019.
