Sony sets out to portray the multi-sensory experience of gaming on the new Playstation 5 console in its first global spot, an otherworldly blockbuster created out of Adam&Eve/DDB.
The VFX-heavy film centers on a female protagonist, a curious explorer stepping into fantastical scenes. At one moment, she find herself in an ice cave, battling a Kraken. Then, she finds herself in a rainforest encampment, showered with noise from the fauna and wildlife. Finally, surrounded in darkness, she shoots an arrow into a neon portal, awakening a massive rock creature. The point is to illustrate "a world where you can feel more."
Directed by Dan DiFelice at Biscuit with post-production by Time Based Arts, the spot highlights the product's immersive features including 3D audio, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. (It also features the new Playstation logo, which attracted some social media mocking when it was unveiled at CES back in January.)
The tagline is "Play has no limits," which according to Mary Yee, VP of global marketing, signifies Playstation's "recommitment to gamers worldwide that we will continue to fight against limits and reset the expectations of what’s possible."
