A grumpy Santa Claus look-alike has a soft spot for sick children in ad for Make-A-Wish foundation

Even people who don’t like Christmas can get into the holiday spirit, in their own way. A white-haired man who favors red jackets gets a bit grumpy when everyone mistakes him for Santa Claus, especially this time of year, in an ultimately sweet spot from Publicis Dublin. When strangers stop him on the street for selfies, he grudgingly obliges, though he’d rather just be spending time with his dog. Sure, he likes fir trees and shops filled with gifts, but he’s definitely not Santa Claus! In the end, however, he admits that even outside of the beard and jacket, he may be a bit "Santa-ish." Like the jolly man in red, he’s pretty good at making kids happy. For example, he sent a girl named Abby and her whole family to Disneyland through Make-A-Wish, the children’s charity that fulfills wishes for critically ill young people. And he plans to do even more this year. The spot for convenience store chain SPAR is made in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation Ireland and was directed by Matthieu Chardon.
