Explore the Upside Down in Netflix's immersive 'Stranger Things' pop-up

Have you ever wished you could wander around the terrifying, monster-infested alternate dimension of Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things”? Now you can! The streaming entertainment service and Fever, an event listings platform, have teamed up to create “Stranger Things: The Experience.” The pop-up will arrive in New York City and San Francisco (more cities to be announced) in spring 2022 and will feature custom, plot-driven adventures with “mind-blowing audiovisual effects” through the show’s iconic venues, like the Upside Down and Hawkins Laboratory. Themed menus, games and exclusive merchandise will be available at locations from the show like Scoops Ahoy and Palace Arcade. The show about a group of pre-teens, one with supernatural powers, fighting monsters, government conspiracies and puberty was an immediate hit when it debuted in 2016. “Stranger Things” premiered fortuitously at the beginning of a wave of ‘80s nostalgia in pop culture, and all three seasons have consistently topped Netflix’s show charts. Netflix hasn’t announced the premiere date for season four, but most fan-site estimates place it around the first half of 2022—perfectly aligning with “Stranger Things: The Experience.” “We know our 'Stranger Things' fans will embrace the chance to be the heroes of the story, working alongside Eleven, Mike and the rest of the gang to escape the evil threatening to consume Hawkins,” said Greg Lombardo, Head of Experiences at Netflix, in a statement. “As Dustin would say, ‘It’s time for a curiosity voyage—so bring your paddles to travel!’” Tickets for “Stranger Things: The Experience” will be available for $54 starting Thursday, July 8 on the installation’s site. Netflix and Fever have previously collaborated on last year’s "Stranger Things Drive-Into" experience in Los Angeles, which consistently sold out and welcomed over 300,000 guests over the course of a seven month run.
