Usain Bolt Meets Ninja Turtles, Muppets and More in Virgin Media's Riotous Entertainment Mash-Up Ad
Spot Directed by Sam Brown Promotes Virgin Fibre Offering
Editor's Pick
A new spot from Virgin Media in the U.K. sees over 300 characters from the world of entertainment racing down a giant tunnel -- a metaphor for the media owner's Virgin Fibre offering.
The cast of characters spans movies, gaming, TV and real-life sports, and includes Iron Lord Hunter from Activision's "Destiny," Donatello from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," muppets, superheroes, astronauts and more -- as well as Usain Bolt (Virgin Media's ongoing pitchman) and players from Southampton Football Club. They're all running, riding and cavorting to the strains of "Misirlou," by Dick Dale and the Del Tones, best known from the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack. Eventually, we see the Virgin Media cable guy listening to their riotous sounds down the line before plugging the new customers in.
The film, by BBH London, was directed by Sam Brown at Rogue, and was shot in a bespoke tunnel in Budapest spanning 200 feet. It breaks today (Mar. 24) during primetime shows "Coronation Street" and "Gogglebox."
