Nike has opened a massive pop-up running track shaped like a sneaker in the center of Manila, encouraging citizens to get out there and improve their run times.
The "Unlimited Stadium," created by BBH Asia Pacific in partnership with Party New York and Jack Morton Worldwide, promotes Nike's LunarEpic shoe, opened August 5 and will run until this weekend, from 4-10pm every day.
The 200m track is lined with LED screens that challenge up to 30 runners at a time to improve their times against their previous best. After setting their pace in the first lap, a full-size avatar (or ghost runner) of themselves appears on the screens. Through a series of challenges centered around time and distance, runners are encouraged to keep beating their avatar, who in turn responds to their performance, pushing them beyond their limits. The experience will also track the total distance all runners complete over 17 days.
