A new spot from Havas London for carpet cleaner brand Vanish was filmed and created before the coronavirus lockdown—but it's particularly timely in the current situation.

To highlight how dirt can enter your home and mess up your carpets, it shows a woman whose home suddenly becomes a "street," invaded by builders trailing mud and dirt, a herd of commuters, a crowd of soccer fans and a cycle race. 

Given social distancing, and how we're now paranoid about any stranger in our home, let alone a crowd of them parading dirt, the ad might just play to all our worst fears.

An agency spokesman says that while the ad was made pre-corona, the client decided to go ahead with the campaign because "the logic was that there’s no time like the present to advertise a product like this. People are at home, with a renewed focus on cleanliness and hygiene and with a lot of time on their hands. They can order Vanish online, and the humorous nature of the spot adds a bit of light to a rather bleak time."

The ad was directed by Sye Allen at OTO.
