Now You Can Check Out Your Virgin America Airline Seat With Google StreetView
'Seat View' Site Lets You Explore the Plane in 360 Degrees

Editor's Pick
You can check out pretty much anywhere on Google StreetView these days: your new boyfriend's house, Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, even the Grand Canyon. So why not check out where you're going to sit on the plane?
Virgin America has made that possible with an online experience, Virgin Seat View, that allows you to test drive your seat before you fly -- useful in an era when airlines are increasingly charging you extra to choose a decent seat.
The site uses actual Google StreetView technology to let people experience a 360-degree, interactive tour onboard the Virgin America aircraft they would fly from any of its 22 destinations. Featuring a "mood-lit" cabin that arguably makes the plane look more attractive, it also contains information on the different kinds of seating, just in case you're tempted to upgrade to First Class.
The campaign, by San Francisco agency Eleven, also includes outdoor interactive bus shelters where users can interact with the experience on a large-panel touchscreen. These will launch in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington D.C., and Chicago next week.
Eleven says in a statement that the campaign was informed by "insights highlighting that some U.S. airlines show products in their advertising campaigns that may in reality only be available on a small portion of their fleet."
We wonder if future additions will enable you smell the peanuts and experience some in-flight turbulence, just to get the full effect....
