If the new Mr. Rogers movie trailer (below) has gotten you all weepy, this campaign might help bring your spirits up. Recently, Kentucky-based agency Cornett debuted a new series of ads for VisitLEX, the Lexington, KY tourism board. They take inspiration from the upcoming film "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" starring Tom Hanks, but in place of the A-lister, they feature a homegrown talent, Hank the horse.

The Cornett team tapped local fashion designer, Soreyda Benedit Begley, to create Mr. Rogers-like duds for the maned mascot. He stars in a series of ads that also feature copy playing off Mr. Rogers’ famous one-liners, but with equine touches: “It’s a beautiful day in the Neighhhborhood” and “Won’t you be my neighhhbor?”

The thinking behind the campaign?

According to Cornett CD Whit Hiler, “Mr. Rogers was known for his kindness and hospitality, so is Lexington Kentucky. Like horses and bourbon, hospitality is a characteristic that makes Lexington a truly unique destination.”
