A new spot for energy company Eon, promoting solar its energy, and storage offering to U.K. customers, puts virtual band Gorillaz into an epic desert party with an array of dancing toys.
Blinkink director Noah Harris captures over 1000 solar-powered toys in the ad, including a giant golden lucky cat, tanks of illuminating squid, flashing UFOs, sumo wrestlers and a twerking dog, all choreographed in camera. They're joined by a toy version of Gorillaz, whose track "We Got the Power" from the new album "Humanz" provides the soundtrack. It's like a Burning Man for toys -- and it's solar panels that are generating the power.
As part of the campaign, Eon is opening a "Kong Solar Studio" at the Demon Dayz Festival in Margate, England, on June 10. Using solar and storage technology -- which allows the studio to use the sun's power day and night through the use of battery storage -- musicians will be able to record music throughout the night and festival-goers will be invited to visit the studio.
The campaign is by agency network Engine, and its different agencies WCRS, Partners Andrews Aldridge, Mischief and Slice all worked on it. Debbie Klein, chief executive of Engine Europe and Asia Pacific, commented: "We're a network of 13 specialist businesses, and there's nothing I love more than bringing some of that diverse talent together for a client. The brief required us to bring together multiple areas of expertise, so we built a bespoke team with people from across Engine to bring to life Eon's vision."
