Is it cake? In KFC Thailand’s batshit new commercial, it most certainly is.

To celebrate 40 years in Thailand, the chicken chain created a birthday spot in which the entire world turns to cake. This is obviously disconcerting for all involved, and soon there is panic on a mass scale. But all is well in the end, when people discover they can still enjoy their KFC—even folks with no hands.

This is the first work from a new South African indie agency called Bananas. “Cake” was directed by Bruno Bossi of Carbon Films and was shot on location in Bangkok, partnering with local production company Taprod.
