Personal film by Wunderman Thompson Thailand's Thasorn Boonyanate takes a surprising turn

When Thasorn Boonyanate, executive creative director at Wunderman Thompson Thailand, had one of his biggest campaigns of the year for TCP Group (the owner of Red Bull) canceled by the client midway due to the pandemic, he made a film about it.

The video, which was posted to his personal Facebook page, starts off as a complaint about the client canceling his work but it soon takes a surprising turn. Boonyanate reveals that when he delved into the reasons behind the cancelation, he found it was done so that the client could donate its ad budget towards helping those affected by coronavirus. He goes on to outline some of those efforts, including how TCP Group donated the first COVID-19 testing machine in Thailand and over 100,000 face masks to the medical staff. 

According to the agency, the film has not only gone viral, with over 2K shares and 80K organic views within one week, it has also resulted in new business: Boonyanate was approached by four prospective clients through his Facebook Messenger inbox. And TCP (which remains a client of Wunderman Thompson) is also happy: it got a pro bono campaign and some goodwill.
