Clif Bar hires David as creative AOR

Clif Bar & Company has named David New York as its creative agency of record following a competitive pitch. Detroit-based agency SMZ, which previously handled the business, was not immediately available for comment. The appointment comes after Mondelēz International acquired Clif Bar & Company in August, a deal valued at $2.9 billion, according to the confectioner's latest 10-K report. This is the latest change for the Clif Bar & Company, which named Alexandre Zigliara as its president in February. “Through the [review] process, we had the opportunity to engage with several leading agencies. David’s strong talent, strategic thinking and creative ideas stood out as truly world class,” Zigliara said in a statement. “We are excited to be one of their founding clients in the New York office and to collaborate and grow together.” The remit for the business is expected to be global, with the bulk of it in the U.S. David is expected to lead creative with support from teams within Ogilvy and Ogilvy Consulting. Clif Bar is one of the first clients for David’s New York office, which opened last year. This is a significant win for David, which parted ways with Burger King as a client last year. Also last year, the agency unveiled the first brand refresh in its 10-year history. “A goal for us is to find partners and brands we admire and share values with. Clif is a company that embraces an entrepreneurial spirit and prioritizes people, sustainability, and quality products,” Pancho Cassis, partner and global chief creative officer for David, said in a statement. “This directly aligns with David's goal of building our agency around clients that are willing to treat everyone as part of the same team.”
