Mojo Supermarket has laid off 14% of its staff due to the loss of its largest account, Meta’s Facebook, according to multiple people close to the situation.
In an internal meeting announcing the layoffs earlier today, Mojo Supermarket Founder Mo Said said the cuts were also due to its second largest client reducing its scope with the agency, according to three people close to the situation who identified that client as Peloton. Another source, however, said that Peloton has re-signed with the agency and its remit has not changed.
Mojo Supermarket declined to comment for this story other than confirming that the agency’s headcount was reduced from 78 employees to 67.
Several people close to the situation indicated that Meta’s decision was the result of a conflict of interest, given that Mojo was named TikTok’s social agency of record last year. Mojo Supermarket also works with the social media platform Pinterest.
Meta and Peloton weren’t immediately available for comment.
