Work and Co opens Atlanta and LA offices in hunt for new talent

Work & Co is expanding its presence with two new offices—one in Atlanta and the other in Los Angeles—bringing its total to eight outposts across the U.S., Europe and Brazil. The agency said its latest expansion is aimed at discovering digital and engineering talent, with an emphasis on diversity. Atlanta offers access to talent in the Southeast region, where a number of startups and HBCUs are located. In 2021 the Brooklyn-based design and technology agency added 70 employees to its roster for a total of 470 employees. The shop also notched 43 new clients last year, including Abercrombie & Fitch, FreshDirect, GoFundMe, Harley Davidson, the PGA Tour and the Mayo Clinic, while earning agency of record status for Gatorade, Lennar Homes and Vistaprint among others. The L.A. outpost is already operating with about a dozen staffers. There is yet no physical space yet in Atlanta, but a team of five is currently working in the city remotely. New offices brings new leadership Chip Gross joins Work & Co in the new role of managing director for the Atlanta office after spending time at agencies, consultancies and client-side organizations, including Boston Consulting Group, UPS, Hearst and IBM. He has over two decades of experience in the Atlanta market. “You think about culture, music and all the different ways that creators in Atlanta influence everything globally and there’s an opportunity for us to apply that influence to create an even larger impact,” Gross said in a statement. “Conversely, I think a lot of talent here in Atlanta has been underrepresented and hasn’t had as many ways to materialize their potential. While I'm personally excited to join Work & Co to be part of designing and building our new future of work and life — what's most compelling is getting to create a new pipeline for the deep pool of diverse talent in Atlanta." The L.A. location has tapped as managing director Shane Abrahamovich, who joined Work & Co 18 months ago and leads work for clients such as Acorns, Vistaprint, and T-Mobile. He will collaborate closely with design partners Jon Jackson and Aleks Gryczon. Abrahamovich has lived in L.A. for more than 12 years and has deep ties to the city. "We’ve seen a shift in what once was an entertainment-driven city evolve into a more dynamic mix of tech-forward companies and startups; it’s clear that the tech now stands on its own as a sector in L.A., so our entry feels well-timed,” he said in a statement. Both Abrahamovich and Gross will work in tandem with other leaders at Work & Co such as Jenny Hirsch, who was the product leader of at the agency before being elevated to managing director for the Dumbo, Brooklyn office. Atlanta as agency hotspot Work & Co's office brings another force to the Atlanta area, which has become a hotspot for agencies. In March of last year, NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal opened an agency in the city called Majority in partnership with creative vet Omid Farhang. One key factor for Majority choosing Atlanta was its diversity. The shop has a goal of ensuring at least 75% of its team are BIPOC, women or LGBTQ+. Among the city's other prominent shops are longtime inhabitants BBDO Atlanta and Fitzgerald & Co., along with the newer Moxie Interactive, Chemisty and 22Squared.
