Pharrell Williams didn't just "get lucky" overnight. He's a multitalented artist who has been innovating in the music industry for years as a producer, songwriter, rapper and singer -- which makes him a force to be reckoned with in the creative world.
His song "Happy" was to many the soundtrack to 2014, and its accompanying music video, a 24-hour-long interactive tour-de-force that captured celebrities and everyday folks dancing to the tune, landed on the top 10 most-awarded creative campaigns of the year (see the 2014 Awards Report). It earned him one of two Grand Prix at Cannes this year -- the other was a collaboration with denim brand G-Star, a clothing line made from recycled plastic trash recovered from the ocean.
Signed on to coach his second season of "The Voice," Mr. Williams also built clothing label Billionaire Boys Club and sneaker brand Ice Cream, plus his own fragrance line. But it's his unique style that makes him a fashion icon, as the popularity of outsize hats will attest.
Who wouldn't feel happy about that?
