McDonald’s is partnering with the co-founder of fashion brand Opening Ceremony to celebrate Lunar New Year in the metaverse.
The Golden Arches tapped Opening Ceremony Co-founder Humberto Leon to design a collection of zodiac animals for the metaverse event, “McDonald’s Hall of Zodiacs: 2022 Lunar New Year with Humberto Leon.” Fans can visit the virtual colosseum-like gallery to see Leon’s zodiac designs, beginning with the tiger. Users will be able to “walk around” to see each zodiac and click to see the virtues of each sign. They'll also be able to dress their avatar in one of the red hoodies from Opening Ceremony’s Lunar New Year line. TikTok creator Cliff Tan helped design the virtual gallery.

“McDonald’s is quintessentially American, and to celebrate Lunar New Year with their fans shows what being American means,” said Leon. “Celebrating Lunar New Year is usually something my family and I do intimately and this an exciting time to share that experience in a bigger way.”
