Oops.
In last night’s “Game of Thrones,” Starbucks got an unpaid boost thanks to one of its cups making an appearance on a table. It turns out the chain really is everywhere.
The cup appeared in front of Daenerys Targaryen during the North's celebration of the Night King’s defeat in the Battle of Winterfell. But the mother of dragons was too focused on Northerners and wildlings toasting Jon Snow's victory to notice the errant java.
“Game of Thrones” is filled with magic and surprises, from main character kill-offs and their resurrections to ice dragons and undead armies, but a Starbucks cup in the lands of Westeros might be the most unexpected of all.
Fans took to Twitter, naturally, and some wondered if its placement was in fact an “accident.”
how much do you think starbucks paid GoT for this “mistake” https://t.co/idK8LUd2fI

Is #gameofthrones that hard up for “Product Placement” money 💰 or did someone royally screw up and leave the Starbucks cup in the scene? 🧐#GOT pic.twitter.com/ltLQmIBO9V

Starbucks moved quickly on Twitter to pitch this tropical-inspired concoction:
TBH we're surprised she didn't order a Dragon Drink.

HBO, in an emailed statement, noted that "the latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”
