Gatorade is getting into the supplements industry with branded gummies. The PepsiCo-owned brand announced the product today as part of a range of revamped existing products including a smart water bottle and an app. This product line aims to “democratize sports science,” said Drew Palin, the brand’s senior director of innovation and marketing.
The gummies come in two varieties, “Recovery” and “Immune Support.” The recovery gummies include 480 milligrams of tart cherry powder and vitamin D, which are intended to help with recovery after exertion. The immune system gummies contain vitamins C and D along with zinc and selenium. The brand is differentiating itself from competing gummy supplement brands with its “athletic angle,” said Palin, who noted the supplements were created in response to athlete insights and how “athletes are getting sick of pills.”
