Best Buy Ads hires ex-Disney ad exec as president

Best Buy named former Disney advertising executive Lisa Valentino as president of Best Buy Ads, its in-house retail media arm, the company announced today. In the role, Valentino will lead Best Buy Ads’ sales, product development and reporting. Valentino will join Best Buy Ads this month, according to the company. Best Buy’s retail media operation is competing with Walmart, Target, Amazon and others to serve advertising across its digital retail sites while licensing data for advanced targeting and measurement in connected TV and other digital media. Global retail ad revenue is expected to grow 17.5% this year and 13.5% in 2025, per GroupM. Retail media will account for 17.4% ($228.2 billion) of total ad revenue by 2029, according to the WPP agency. Valentino spent more than five years at Disney as executive VP, client and addressable sales, helping lead the company’s streaming ad sales and ad tech development. Valentino departed Disney in May, just as upfront negotiations were beginning, as a result of a restructuring of its ad team. Valentino had previously been senior VP of multi-media sales for ESPN, where she served in ad sales for over seven years. She has also worked at Condé Nast, where she was chief revenue officer, and spent nearly a decade in ad sales for Yahoo.
