Netflix names new US ad sales chief

Netflix has named Nicolle Pangis VP of advertising, the company announced today. Pangis will lead ad sales for the U.S. and Canada, as well as the global account management team. Pangis will report to Amy Reinhard, president of advertising at Netflix. Naylor had begun leading global ad sales for Netflix just before the launch of its ad-supported tier and departed amidst a flurry of speculation about the streamer’s ambitions for its ad business. At the time of Naylor’s departure, a Netflix spokesperson told Ad Age that the streamer would scale back Naylor’s former role to focus only on the U.S. and Canada. The move was meant to “better align our team structure with our business priorities” as Netflix “enters this new phase of our advertising business,” the spokesperson said. Pangis is another long-time media industry vet. Most recently, she spent nearly six years as CEO of the cross-platform linear TV buying platform Ampersand, co-owned by Comcast, Charter and Cox. Prior to that, Pangis held multiple roles at GroupM, first overseeing the integration of 24/7 Media after its acquisition by WPP and its integration into Xaxis.
