Tim Fenton, president of McDonald's Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa, has been named chief operating officer, with responsibility for the company's 33,500-plus restaurants worldwide. Mr. Fenton, a 39-year veteran of McDonald's, will assume the new role July 1. He has also served as president-East Division for McDonald's USA and senior VP- Southeast Asia/Middle East/Africa and VP-managing director of McDonald's Middle East Development Co. In addition, Mr. Fenton has held many operations and leadership positions in Asia, Poland and Central Europe.
Gina Garrubbo has joined Hearst Magazines International as senior VP-Hearst Global Women's Digital Advertising Network. Ms. Garrubbo has been consulting for Hearst on strategic development in the digital-advertising space since January. From 2007 to 2011, Ms. Garrubbo was exec VP of BlogHer, where she built the advertising sales and operations divisions. Before joining the women's social-media community, she co-founded Natural Beauty Innovations and launched Terralina, a natural skin-care line. Ms. Garrubbo also held executive VP positions at Oxygen Media and Women.com. She began her career in broadcast TV at ABC and has worked at MTV , Action Media Group, McCann-Erickson, Discovery and Wells Rich Greene.
Gilt Groupe travel site Jetsetter has appointed Barry Herstein chief marketing officer, a new position. Mr. Herstein was most recently general manager-Americas and global CMO for Snapfish, where he helped reverse a decline in revenue growth. He was previously the global CMO for PayPal. Mr. Herstein also held CMO positions at American Express and the Financial Times Group, as well as marketing leadership roles at Citibank and Avon Products.
MagnaGlobal, IPG Mediabrands' media intelligence and negotiation unit, has made three executive appointments as it expands its global presence and capabilities: Shaffia Sanchez has been named managing director-world markets, a new position. She joins MagnaGlobal after more than 12 years with GlaxoSmithKline, where she was most recently media director-Latin America. Todd Gordon has been named exec VP-U.S. director. Mr. Gordon, who previously led negotiations as senior VP-managing director of national broadcast at Initiative , will help develop strategic negotiation approaches for the IPG network and its clients. In addition, Brian Hughes has been promoted to senior VP-audience analysis practice lead at MagnaGlobal Intelligence from VP-director of audience analysis. IPG also announced that MagnaGlobal will now align with Ensemble, Mediabrands' branded entertainment arm.
Vinoo Vijay has joined TD Bank as CMO, bringing with him nearly two decades of marketing experience. He most recently created and led Ally Bank's rebranding in North America. Before that , he spent seven years at Bank of America in several marketing leadership roles. He began his career at Federal Express, where he developed its global consumer-loyalty program.
Donnovan Andrews has joined Bazaarvoice as VP-media sales and operations in New York. He is responsible for establishing strategic media-partner relationships with agencies, brands and retailers. Mr. Andrews was most recently president of Firefly Video, where he launched its online video-advertising capability, and previously served as global VP-strategic development at Tribal Fusion. He has also worked at Deutsch and OMD.
