Amid layoffs, budget cuts and an industry directive to “do more with less,” those proving that marketing and advertising are business drivers are more critical than ever before. The 2024 Ad Age 40 Under 40 list celebrates the individuals who are driving success at their companies, whether it's growth, untangling a plethora of data, accelerating the use of AI or helping decode the behaviors of Gen Z. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 2. Honorees will be notified in September and the list will publish on Oct. 21. The list, published every fall, shines a spotlight on those who have helped to advance a business or a brand at an advertiser, agency, media company, tech platform or brand in a demonstrable way within the last 12 months. Everyone featured is under the age of 40. Who is eligible? We are looking for people who have made significant contributions to the worlds of media, tech, advertising or marketing within the last year. We look for paradigm breakers, smart thinkers and thought leaders who are making a difference and who are also poised to climb company ladders. One big caveat—they must be under the age of 40 on Oct. 21, 2024. This is not a lifetime achievement award—Ad Age is specifically looking for individuals who have had meaningful accomplishments within the last 12 months. International entrants are accepted but all entries must be made in English. Team entries are not eligible; members must be submitted individually. What are judges looking for? There is no single formula for success. Honorees are chosen based on a variety of factors, including financial performance, innovation, creativity and effective narratives that generate business results. Those chosen can come from both new startups as well as established, heritage brands or organizations. Pay close attention to the entry forms as each and every field was carefully chosen to give the judges the best possible picture of each entrant’s work history, responsibilities and achievements. Who has been named to previous 40 Under 40 lists? Last year, Ad Age honored winners including Candice Beck, global head of social media for Chipotle; Daniel Maynez, manager of multicultural marketing at Hyundai; and Noura Sakkijha, CEO and co-founder of Mejuri. Previous lists have featured the likes of Julie Schott, co-founder of Starface; Kofi Amoo-Gottfried, currently chief marketing officer at DoorDash; and David Droga, now CEO of Accenture Song. How much does it cost to enter? Until June 24, pricing for the 2024 40 Under 40 is $325 per entry. After June 24, the entry fee increases to $375. What does the 40 Under 40 entry form require? To enter, you’ll need to summarize why your nominee has driven growth and success at the brand or business in the past 12 months. You’ll also be able to include examples, such as case studies from work, creative pieces or links to product demos. These supporting pieces must be from the past 12 months. Please also be judicious with your selections—it’s better to provide quality over quantity. When is the deadline? The final deadline for 40 Under 40 entries is Friday, Aug. 2, at 5 p.m. EDT.
